Author: Harry Hofman A gripping page turner. A book that you can really lose yourself while reading. John Bowers can write a story that makes you feel like you are in the middle of the action.
|
Author: Bruce Davis A great military sf tale. Memorable characters, plenty of action and enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat.
|
Author: Al Philipson What a rush! A young girl joins the military, fights her way through a hostile environment, and becomes the top gunner in the force. There’s plenty for the action buff and a good dose of “underdog makes good”. Joy, tears, anger, triumph; it’s all there.
Bowers is a master storyteller and one of the kings of military action.

Author: Ben Brown ‘A Vow to Sophia’ is the second book in the Fighter Queen saga. It takes place approximately twenty years later, and like the first, it’s jam packed with action.
The story revolves around two main characters, Johnny Lincoln and Onja Pedersen.
Johnny is an extremely talented test pilot who works for his father. When war breaks out he immediately enlists to become a fighter pilot in the United Federation Fighter Fleet. His natural born talent and his need to prove himself make him an instant ace.
Onja Pedersen is a refugee from a war torn planet, ravaged by decades of occupation. At the age of twelve her father manages to smuggle his beloved daughter off world, in the hope of a better life. Onja vows to avenge her family, that vow becomes her reason to live.
When Johnny and Onja join forces as pilot and gunner, they become all but unstoppable. Their reputation grows as time and time again they beat the odds. Through their trials of battle a love develops between them, each would die for the other. It’s this connection that gives the story a great edge. You feel for the two as the war envelopes them and they are forced to make sacrifices that no one ever should.
This book has it all, epic dog fights, bitter hatreds, great friendships and a love story that truly touches the heart. I have already bought the next two in the series and if they’re as good as the first two, then I won’t be disappointed.
