Author: Ben Brown Book of books is an intriguing, if not slightly complicated book. The reader has to follow many threads, which end up weaving a completely enthralling story. The author has managed to create a world filled with technologies, which are only just around the corner. However, at no point does the tale become unbelievable or farfetched. The author’s references to societies’ obsession with social networking, makes me worry about my own Twitter addiction. The dialog in this book is particularly good and totally realistic. I was utterly hooked from the first to the last page. I enjoyed it enormously. This book gets two thumbs up from me.

Author: Al Philipson A story full of plot twists and mystery. Several parallel stories challenge the reader to keep up. A nice surprise ending.

Author: Al Kalar Okay, I admit it. I'm a "space opera" junkie. So I approached Book of Books with some reserve. Especially since it revolves around that ultimate expression of author narcissism where some weenie author is one of the protagonists. Grief, what could be more self-serving?
And multiple plot lines? C'mon, I'm a lazy reader. I don't want to be challenged when I'm reading for fun (usually just before I hit the hay). Multiple plot lines are usually a challenge and you actually have to pay attention when you read.
So, all in all, I wasn't expecting much.
Well, I was r-r-ru, uh r-r-ru (c'mon, Al, spit it out). Okay, I was wrong. Ya happy?
I did manage to follow the plot lines and even got to like the weenie author (no square-jawed outer space hero here). The story was engaging and fun to read. And, yes, entertaining.
But I still took away one star on my rating 'cause it's not a space opera. So there!
