The largest wormhole ever discovered, a new undeveloped galaxy brimming with immense resources, an unexpected marriage, royal intrigue, and hostile totalitarian forces shadow the exclusive path to new worlds. The story features a twisting plot, powerful scheming enemies, and huge rewards for success.

Two worlds, Spotsylvania and Tsinndorf, fighting for control of a mineral-rich third, Ra.

The royal couple must fight to survive, keep their family together, and their trio of stars from collapsing into war and anarchy as the solar systems fight over their child who is an heir to both thrones.

One man holds the key to his survival and the future of the galaxy. The Federation is urgently seeking him. His powerful enemies want him dead because he is the key to saving the rest of the galaxy from all out war. An unfathomable reward awaits — if he succeeds.

Join Commodore Farmer and his meager forces on this complex and dangerous mission.

Delightful. Entertaining! Totally engrossing.

I love the twists and turns. Even the evil Archbishop is fun to hate (I'd pick Alan Rickman to play him).

Author: Al Kalar
A Farmer who’s More than a Farmer

Oh, goody. A space opera (kinda) and a nice twist with two competing royal houses. And shades of The Three Musketeers, an evil archbishop just to stir the pot. Cardinal Richelieu, eat your evil heart out; this guy is nastier than you.

If I had to carp about something, it would be the start of the book. I really love a book where the explosions, the abduction, the dirty deed, or the war, is there on the first page.

Don’t get me wrong, there is conflict in the first chapter, but the story wanders off into (necessary) “preparation” (by the author) for the main story and conflict which doesn’t show up for a couple of chapters (although there’s enough to keep a reader from losing interest).

Once things get going, the explosions are few and far between, because this book is more about trickery and deception than big space battles (although there is some of that too). And the trickery and deception are very well handled and ladled out with just the right amount of spice in the soup. I loved every bit of it.

I think I’ve become a McMurtry fan. Can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
