Author: Ben Brown If you've read any of John Bowers other reviews, then you’ll already know I'm a big fan of his books. As far as I’m concerned, this one is another winner!
It has all his hallmarks, action, excitement, sexual tension, but it also has something else … the believability of someone who’s been there.
This book is set amongst the religious cults of a far off world. It deals with the dogma and blind faith of closeted cults. This book rings with an authenticity which can only be written by someone who has lived in such cults.
While I felt repulsion and anger towards the zealots in this book, I also felt pity for them. A pity, which I believe, the main character, Nick, also seemed to feel.
This story revolves around a good man, doing a tough job in an unforgiving environment. He is hated, and shunned. Yet he never fails to do what is right.
I loved this book, good stuff!

Author: Al Kalar Nick Walker Is Back (and so is the delectable Suzanne)
This is supposedly the 3rd book in the Nick Walker series. The first book hasn't been published, but the second, "Sirian Summer", came out last year.
In time, this book follows directly behind Sirian Summer. Nick has been re-posted to another small town on a world of two suns (but not as hot as Sirius was). Nick has been here before, as a Star Marine, when two local cults joined forces in an attempt to take over the world. When they attacked this particular town, Nick distinguished himself and became a hero to the locals.
Now, as the new Federation marshal for the area, the townsfolk are thrilled to have him back, but the cult members would rather he leave -- or die.
The story lives up to everything I've come to expect from John Bowers. Great characters, a thrilling plot, and enough action to keep this "action junkie" happy.
I particularly liked the way Suzanne keeps Nick off balance in their relationship (yes, she's still with him).
Nick Walker continues to ROCK! And Suzanne is still "easy on my [mental] eyes".
Disclosure: I work for the publisher, but I can say anything I want. So, take it for what it's worth.
