"A great read for scifi/fantasy fans ..." -Flying With Red Haircrow

"... will keep you turning the pages right to the end ..." -Ben

When Nick Walker arrives on Sirius 1 to take over the United Federation Marshal’s office at Kline Corners, his first priority is to find out who murdered the man he is replacing, Ron Gates. But Kline Corners is like no place he has ever seen — it looks like an Ancient West cow town, complete with sheriff and saloon.

But things are not what they seem. Nick soon discovers an epidemic of missing girls, talk of racial oppression, and outright human slavery. If he can get to the bottom of those issues, he may learn who murdered Ron Gates.

Nick Walker, U.F. Marshal is a fast-paced tale of  action on the Final Frontier, racially motivated and politically charged. You’ve never read anything like it.

Author: Ben Brown
Sirian Summer is another great book from the stable of John Bowers, and like his other books you won’t be disappointed.
The tale is set on the planet of Sirius 1, several hundred years before the epic Fighter Queen saga. Sirius 1, at this time in its history, is still very much a frontier world. The people of this planet are driven by a number of things; first is survival against the planet’s harsh environment. The second is: if you are born white and male, then you pretty much can do whatever the hell you want.
Because of these two overlying factors, a culture forms where slavery is acceptable. This to me is not too much of a stretch, people will often abandon the most basic of human rights when faced with the need to survive and prosper; history is full of such stories.
Soon slavery, rape and racism become the normal way of life, except for the part of the planet still governed by the Federation…the last bastion of the heights of humanity and its ideals. Yet this bastion is being eroded, eaten away at by the Sirian culture that creeps ever closer to the last outpost of human rights. Corruption, greed and lust are breaking down laws that took millennia to create. It is into this cesspool that the idealistic Nick Walker, United Federation Marshal, is posted.
Nick quickly learns that upholding the law on a frontier world that wants nothing to do with its mother planet, or its culture, is harder than he’d expected. Soon he has to make decisions that could not only cost him his life, but also the lives of the people around him. He decides that there are some ideals that are worth fighting, and dying for. He concludes he must make a stand, no matter the cost. After all…he is the law.
This book has a little of something for everyone. It’s a western, set in the future, with a detective story line; it’s hard to believe that you could fit all this into one book, but John Bowers has. Plus, of course, it’s full of his signature action.
This book will keep you turning the pages right to the end; I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Author: Al Kalar
The first book in John Bower’s new series, Nick Walker, UF Marshall.

Set in the same universe as his Fighter Queen saga, this book is much earlier in time, when Sirius was just a colony world of Earth.

All of the action takes place in the southern end of the main continent, in the dusty town of Kline Corners. Being a frontier world, Kline Corners has much of the feeling of the early American South or Southwest. Due to the binary suns, summer is super hot and most of the story takes place prior to and during that scorching season.

Except for the modern conveniences, this story could be a “western”, complete with local sheriff and visiting marshal, bad guys, and the feeling that a shootout could happen any minute. However, vehicles that fly have replaced the hero’s faithful horse and faster than light communications have made the Pony Express unnecessary.

The book bears the Bowers stamp of excellence. The “I can’t put it down” feeling you get when you start reading. I didn’t pull any “all nighters” reading this, but I wanted to.

I’m primarily a science fiction fan. But I suspect that western fans might get a kick out of this story as well.

Grab your six-gun, your cowboy hat and boots, and wander the streets of Kline Corners. But be off the streets from noon ‘til sundown; it’s really hot out there — in more ways than one.

Author: Bruce Davis
Space age law enforcement meets the wild west! Great characters and the introduction of a hero who balances idealism with tough can-do practicality. Nick Walker is a former mMarine, now a Fereral Marshall on a tough frontier world. He confronts petty crime and major corruption with the same practical, no nonsense attitude that offers reason and compassion but tolerates no disrespect. Theres action aplenty, but theres real humanity too as Nick confronts some of his own demons and dares to love again. A great read from a popular author.
