Author: Al Kalar The 3rd book in The Fighter Queen Saga, this is actually the 4th book in the publishing sequence.
Star Marine follows the adventures of three major characters involved in the Sirian war:
-Rico Martinez, a Star Marine “grunt”.
-Regina Wells, a Senator’s daughter who only expected to teach Sirian culture to the troops, until she was recruited for a “black ops” mission.
-Wade Palmer, an officer who volunteered to fight and gets stuck in “planning”.
The three major characters’ parallel story lines are all tied together by several operations in the ongoing war and provide an exciting, often hair raising, look at the various facits of war that have existed throughout history.
The book has the usual “Bowers touch” of action, drama, heartbreak, and triumph. It is, in my opinion, the best of the lot (yes, even better than “Fighter King”), and that’s saying a lot.
So, grab your gun, your pencil, and your cloak & dagger. You’re in for an exciting ride.

Author: Ben Brown I wanted to write a review for Star Marine, but then I realized. If you are buying Star Marine you have most likely read the first two books in the series and you already know how great they are. So I thought I’d tell you about how Star Marine affected me during its reading.
I bought Star Marine to take on holiday with me; it’s a big book at 227,000 words. Or close to 650 pages on my Kobo. I thought it would take me a fair while to read, normally a book of that size would last me weeks. Now, unlike most people who go on holiday, I like to get up real early. Most mornings I’d wake at just before 6am and sit out on the balcony reading. I would read for at least four or five hours a day. I would read by the pool or while having a beer. I was totally enthralled by the book, I just couldn’t get enough.
By the last day I was a little over 400 pages in and had reached the part titled, ‘Periscope Harbor.’ This section depicts the battle to take Beta Centauri. I began to read and just couldn’t stop. Hour after hour I read. From time to time I had to stop to pack and to eat, but I just needed to keep reading. While we waited in the hotel lobby for our ride to the airport, I read. At the airport, I read. On the five hour flight home, I read. I needed to know the outcome of the battle. I needed to know, who would live and who would die. Finally we landed and I still had about 70 pages to go. I was annoyed that I hadn’t finished, and that I would need to wait until the next day to find out the ending.
For me, that’s what a good book does. It’s not that you want to read it; it’s that you have to read it. It’s like a compulsion that you can’t control. You have to find out what is happening to the characters in the book, you have a connection with them. You want the villains punished and the heroes saved. This book is going in my top ten books, that’s a big statement, but it was brilliant. I have two words for john Bowers. ‘Semper Fi!’
