Author: Al Philipson What a rush! The earlier books in the series only hinted that Johnny’s father had a history on Vega. I was thrilled to get a chance to find out what that was.
Each book in the series seems to get better; almost as if Bowers is a runner who sprints out of the blocks, then “hits his stride” and goes even faster. So it is with his ability to tell a story. This one is the best one yet.
If you’re new to the Fighter Queen series, read this one first since it’s chronologically the first.

Author: Ben Brown When I first read the premise of The Fighter King, I was unsure whether or not I would like the book. The concept of a war in space that almost mirrors the American civil war seemed to me, to be a stretch too far. I was wrong, not only does the book work, but it is completely convincing in its depiction of a clash of ideals. On one side, you have the brutality and racism of the Sirian confederacy, and on the other the serenity and beauty of the Vegans. In the middle is a man who must do his bit to defend Vega’s innocents. That man is Oliver Lincoln III.
Oliver is powered by both, revenge and guilt. This motivates him to do things that he would never have thought possible. As with all the best war stories, both true and fictional, an average man becomes a hero. This makes for an action filled, thrilling tale. If you love stories packed with more pulse racing scenes than the average Bruce Willis flick, then this book is for you!
